What’s the best treatment for the under eyes and dark circles?

So there are a few concerns with the under eyes

  • Dark circles

  • Hollowness or volume loss

  • Skin laxity

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Crows feet

There are several different treatments available for the under-eye area, and the choice of treatment depends on your specific concerns. However, before delving into treatments, let's discuss skincare because prevention is crucial. Two essential recommendations I make to my patients in the clinic, even before considering treatments, are the use of under-eye retinol and under-eye SPF. These two steps are imperative for preventing fine lines, wrinkles, and improving skin texture and elasticity. Retinol enhances cell turnover and boosts collagen production, while SPF is vital because the delicate under-eye skin is susceptible to sun damage and premature aging. Theres a lot of great over-the-counter under-eye retinol and SPF products available, and for those seeking more potent options, prescription options are also available.

So lets go into the different under eye treatments available.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a highly effective in-clinic treatment involving the use of a device with tiny needles applied to the skin. This process creates hundreds of micro-punctures in the skin, triggering the body's natural wound healing response. This, in turn, stimulates increased collagen and elastin production, improving fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, hyperpigmentation, and even scarring in the treated area. Microneedling can be performed as a standalone treatment or combined with Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) for even more impressive results.

PRF

PRF, which stands for Platelet-Rich Fibrin, involves taking a small blood sample, which is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the blood into red blood cells and platelet-rich fibrin. This concentrated mixture of growth factors and cells is then injected into various areas depending on the concern, (under eyes, skin or hair) to help regenerate growth, promote collagen production and aid in wound healing. This PRF can be either injected under the eyes or used in conjunction with microneedling for enhanced results.

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are a revolutionary anti-ageing ageing injectable treatment that uses biological molecules which are essentially chains of nucleotides (the building blocks of DNA and RNA) to promote deep skin renewal by stimulating and collagen and elastin production. It is not a filler,

Polynucleotides present an innovative alternative to conventional under-eye fillers, thanks to their unique blend of rejuvenating properties. This treatment aims to provide a radiant and revitalized appearance by effectively addressing a range of concerns, including dark under-eye circles, crow's feet, skin laxity, dehydration, and poor under-eye circulation.

Rather than simply attempting to ‘fill out’ the under-eye area with product like traditional filler,  polynucleotides improves the under-eye skin quality by stimulating the body's own regeneration process making it the ideal choice for a subtle, natural-looking enhancement to the under-eye area.

Tear trough fillers

Tear trough filler treatment also known as under eye fillers, is a very popular non-surgical injectable treatment used to treat under eye hollowness and tired eyes. It works by replacing lost volume under the eye area, and as a result brightening the under eye.

As we start to age, the area underneath the eyes, known as the tear trough area, becomes more prominent. The change in appearance often presents with dark circles and under-eye hollow, leaving one to look tired and exhausted. This following under the eyes can also expose eye bags which can make the appearance look worse.

Who’s suitable for tear trough filler?

  • Loss of volume underneath the eye area + hollowness

  • Eye bags with hollowness underneath

  • Under eye dark circles with hollowness

NCTF

NCTF is an under eye skin booster designed to target dark circles, pigmentation and crepey skin around the eyes using advanced nano-injections of an innovative blend of vitamins with hyaluronic acid, to stimulate collagen and elastin.

Results;

  • Smoothed fine lines

  • Improved under-eye area and circles

  • Brighter under eye

  • Boosted collagen

Crows feet anti-wrinkle injections

Crow’s feet or eye wrinkles are lines that appear around the outer corner of your eyes especially when you smile, squint or laugh.

One highly effective non-surgical treatment for crow's feet lines is Botox (botulinum toxin). Botox works by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for forming these wrinkles, allowing the skin to smooth out and appear less creased

I highly recommend scheduling an initial consultation to allow us to thoroughly address your concerns. Occasionally, a combination of treatments may be necessary, and during this consultation, we can design a personalized treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs.
