5 Autumn skin care tips to update your routine

With cooler days fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about our autumn skincare routine. With the change in season comes a change in weather and, for many, a change in the skin. This time of year we are focused on hydration and ensuring dull dry skin is well exfoliated. Here are some tips to help you transition into the colder seasons.

1. Opt for a hydrating, ceramide rich moisturiser

A hydrating moisturiser will help protect your skin from the crisp autumn air. With a drop in temperature, we rely on heating systems more frequently, which causes our skin to lose moisture faster. Opt for a thicker moisturizer filled with ceramides. Ceramides nourish and strengthen the skin barrier, plumping the skin and minimising moisture loss.

2. Opt for a hydrating cleanser

Carefully choose a cleanser that is rich in hydrating ingredients like ceramides and hylauronic acid to ensure your protecting your skin barrier and lock in moisture to hydrate the skin and fight off dry skin caused by cold weather.

3. Exfoliate but less frequently

Exfoliating is great for removing dead skin cells and smoothing out the skin, but over-exfoliation can strip the skin from its essential oils which can disrupt your skin barrier and irritate the skin. Therefore carefully select a gentle exfoliant rich in either salicylic acid or glycolic acid and use once or twice a week.

4. Treat your skin with a hydrating serum

You can never have enough of moisture during the cooler months, so add in a hydrating serum. My favourite is hydrodrops by Obagi, this facial serum, with cutting edge Isoplentix technology, leaves the skin smoother, more radiant and feeling hydrated all day.

5. Book in a skin booster treatment

Skin boosters are a fantastic choice for maintaining skin hydration, particularly during the colder months. These treatments are designed to infuse the skin with deep and lasting moisture, helping combat the effects of dry and chilly weather. By delivering a potent blend of hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, skin boosters not only hydrate the skin but also stimulate collagen production, promoting a plumper, more radiant complexion
